Animal is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Pranay Reddy Vanga under T-Series Films, Bhadrakali Pictures and Cine1 Studios. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri in lead roles. The film follows the story of a son who undergoes a remarkable transformation as the bond with his father begins to fracture, and he becomes consumed by a quest for vengeance.

On December 1, 2023, theaters released Animal in both regular and IMAX formats. Reviewers gave the film positive reviews and commended Kapoor’s directing, screenplay, soundtrack, and acting performances.

Plot

The film opens with Arjun Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) as a young man living a simple life with his father, Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor). Balbir is a respected gangster who leads a gang of criminals. Arjun idolizes his father and wants to follow in his footsteps. However, Balbir’s criminal activities soon put Arjun in danger.

One day, Arjun witnesses a horrific crime committed by his father’s gang. Shaken by what he has seen, Arjun begins to question his father’s values. The rift between father and son widens as Arjun tries to distance himself from his father’s criminal world.

Balbir, enraged by Arjun’s betrayal, decides to teach him a lesson. He orders his gang to kidnap Arjun and torture him.Arjun survives being left for dead, escapes, and pledges to seek revenge on his father.

Arjun undergoes a dramatic transformation as he seeks revenge. He becomes hardened and ruthless, willing to do whatever it takes to bring down his father. He assembles a team of his own and starts to wage war against his father’s gang.

Themes

Animal explores themes of vengeance, family, and transformation. The film shows how a son’s love for his father can turn into hatred and how violence can beget more violence. It also raises questions about the nature of good and evil and the consequences of our choices.

Performances

A strong performance from Ranbir Kapoor anchors the film. Kapoor is excellent as Arjun, capturing the character’s complex emotions and his descent into darkness. Anil Kapoor is also impressive as Balbir, a man who is both feared and respected. Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri provide solid support in the film’s other lead roles.

Soundtrack

The film’s soundtrack is composed by Pritam and features several catchy songs. The soundtrack heightens the suspense and contributes to the overall mood and ambience of the movie.
